Zone Leaders
Each Zone Leader will take ownership of a specific area of seating (approximately 4-5 rows) and intentionally care for the people who sit there week after week.
Some of you are already doing this naturally!
What Does a Zone Leader Do?
1. Arrive Early
Be in your section at least 5 minutes before the service begins.
2. Welcome People
Learn names. Greet people warmly. Help create a culture where everyone feels noticed and valued.
3. Notice New People
When someone new sits in your section, introduce yourself and start a conversation.
A simple:
"Hey, I don't think we've met yet. My name is ________. What's your name?"
is often all it takes.
4. Make Connections
If possible, introduce guests to at least one other regular attender who shares a similar stage of life or interest.
Our goal isn't simply to meet people—it's to help people connect with people.
5. Learn Names
Keep track of new names in whatever way works best for you—an index card, notes app, or something similar.
6. Notice When Someone Is Missing
As relationships develop, you'll naturally notice when someone who regularly sits in your section hasn't been around.
Reach out with a simple text, phone call, or conversation the next time you see them.
If there is a significant pastoral need, please let me know.
7. Pray
Pray regularly for the people in your section and for the relationships God is building there.
8. Extend Hospitality
If you connect with someone new, feel free to invite them to lunch, coffee, or brunch.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for people who are:
Faithful and consistent
Friendly and approachable
Good listeners
Comfortable initiating conversations
Passionate about helping people feel connected
You don't have to be outgoing. You just have to care about people.
Ready to Serve?
If you'd like to become a Zone Leader, please email me with me the following:
Let me know which service you plan to attend consistently. (We understand vacations, illness, and occasional absences happen. Our goal is roughly 80% attendance.)
Review the seating map below and let me know which zone you would like to serve.
My prayer is simple: that nobody at Journey would ever feel invisible, unknown, or alone.
Thank you for considering being part of making that vision a reality.
